WORKTOPS A Wide variety of working tops are
available, and the choice of worktop must take into account aesthetics, cost,
longevity, stain-, heat- and scratch resistance and suitability. The most
commonly used materials are: TRESPA Toplab Plus 16mm,
20mm or 25mm heat, acid, solvent, stain and scratch resistant panels
made exclusively for the laboratory worktop market by Trespa
International in the Netherlands. For more information go to TRESPA. The CORIAN Solid Surface "Genesis" range, manufactured by Du Pont is distributed in South Africa by Messrs Marshall Hinds Ltd, with Labfurn being an accredited fabricator, advantages being seamless joints for clean and sterile environments with stains and damages being easily repaired. LAMINATED SALIGNA - 38mm or 32mm This is a local substitute for the
imported Iroko top. It comprises of 38mm Saligna (Eucalyptus) in 22mm strips bonded
lengthwise with multiple finger joints to the required lengths. The finished
product is lighter in appearance than Iroko, and is not as hardy and durable.
It is commonly and successfully used in educational laboratories. POST FORMED FORMICA
SOLID IROKO STAINLESS STEEL Widely used in areas which need to be
kept sterile e.g. hospital and medical research laboratories and also in
